Part A: Child-Centered Co-parenting
(All Classes are Zoom-based)
This is a one-time 3.5 hour class. The focus is on what parents can do to help make it possible for their children to make a positive short- and long-term adjustment to having two homes.
Topics Covered:
The differences between how parents and children experience the break-up of a family
Short- and long-term effects on children of being caught in the middle
Specific ways parents and other family members can be sensitive and responsive to children’s needs during stressful times
“Modern” parenting plans (time share) that make it possible for both parents to be actively involved in their children’s lives
Communications skills parents living apart can use to co-parent more effectively
Ways to guide other family members, new significant others included, to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem
